What is music therapy?
Music therapy is a form of treatment and rehabilitation based on scientific research. In music therapy music is used versatilely as part of the treatment. Music therapy is suitable for all ages.
Music therapy is an effective form of treatment for mood disorders, supporting communication and interaction, neurological rehabilitation, pain management, as well as supporting general well-being.
Participation does not require previous musical skills. In music therapy, music is used as a tool. The therapy session includes, for example, listening to music, improvisation, working with imagery, relaxation exercises and discussion. During the session, vibroacoustic therapy can also be used as a tool for relaxation and imagery work.

Music therapy in Jyväskylä!
I have graduated as a music therapist from the Roiha Institute in the spring of 2024. I offer music therapy in Jyväskylä at Ristonmaa for clients of different ages.
The price of the therapy is 80€/visit (45 min), an introductory visit is half price. Students, unemployed, conscripts and pensioners get a 20% discount by showing proof of belonging to a discount group (the discount does not apply to Kela-compensated therapy).
If you pay for therapy visits yourself, you do not need a doctor’s referral.
I also work as a Kela (the social insurance institution) service provider. Kela compensates music therapy as rehabilitation psychotherapy for 16-25 year olds €57.60/visit. For rehabilitation psychotherapy compensated by Kela, you need a doctor’s referral. Of course, you can come for an introductory visit even before the referral.
